Installation Instructions for the SMC 669 FastIR
driver:

 1. Open the 'Ports (COM & LPT) section of the 'Device Manager' 
 2. Select 'Generic lr Serial Port (Com 4)
 3. Select the 'Driver' option and 'Update Driver'
 4. Insert your driver disk (if you are installing from the CD-ROM,
    point the 'Other Locations' to the directory C:\Drivers\FastIR) 
    and allow Windows to search for the driver
 5. You should now see the device 'SMC IrCC (Fast Infrared) Hardware
    and Driver'
 6. Open the 'Add New Hardware' option in the 'Control Panel' folder
 7. Do not let Windows search for your new hardware
 8. Select Infrared from the menu
 9. Select 'Built in Infrared port...'
10. Install the infrared software on the 'SMC IrCC...' port
11. Use Default ports
12. Reboot the system
13. Open the directory D:\Drivers\FastIR (where D is the designated 
    drive letter for the CD-ROM)
14. Right click on the file 'Smcirlap.inf' and choose 'Install'
15. Open the 'Infrared' icon in the 'Control Panel' folder and select
    'Options'. The connection speed should read 4mbps.
