============================================================================================ Supraexpress 56i Pro SP PCI Series SUP 2390 Windows 9x driver installation and update files ============================================================================================ Applicable files ----------------- Drivers V2.1.2.156.015e: supraexpress56-2390_win9x_015.exe This file pertains to the Supraexpress 56i Pro SP PCI Series SUP 2390 and contains the most up-to-date drivers for Windows 95/98. These drivers are not for use with other modems or operating systems. Release Notes ----------------- These drivers are the most recent released for the Supraexpress 56i Pro SP PCI, and include a self-installer for easy installation. The drivers are included, if a traditional Windows installation is necessary. Installation Instructions ----------------- You should print this document for easy reference. We include two installation prodecures: 1) for new installations of the modem, and 2) for updates of the modem over previous, older 2) driver installations. Installation Process 1: ----------------- For those who have installed no drivers: 1. Power down the system and install the modem into an available PCI slot. Boot up the system as normal. 2. Windows 9x will detect a PCI Serial Controller, PCI Card or PCI Communication Device. Select “CANCEL” when prompted to install a driver, and allow Windows to finish loading as normal. 3. Label a blank formatted floppy disk, "Supraexpress 56i Pro SP PCI Driver files." 4. Insert the disk into the floppy drive. 5. Download the file onto a floppy disk. In your browser, click on the file name, supraexpress56-2390_win9x_015.exe. Your browser should prompt as to where you would like save the file. You should select the floppy drive, "A:\" (without the quotes). 6. When the download is complete, you should disconnect from the internet and close all open programs. 7. Extract the files from the downloaded file. Click Start\Run\Browse. Locate the supraexpress56-2390_win9x_015.exe file on the floppy drive, "a:." Click OK and then OK again, or double-click the file icon. 8. A Self-Extractor window should appear, labeled Diamond Multimedia. This will then begin the installation. You will then be prompted to select a country, continue through the installation here. 9. After the files have been installed click OK to the "success" window and then Close to exit 10. When the program has finished it may restart Windows automatically. Your modem is now installed. Installation Process 2: ---------------- For those who have an older driver version already installed, and the modem functioning normally: 1. Label a blank formatted floppy disk, "Supraexpress 56i Pro VCC PCI Driver files" 2. Insert the disk into the floppy drive. 3. Download the file onto a floppy disk. In your browser, click on the file name, supraexpress56-2390_win9x_015.exe. Your browser should prompt as to where you would like save the file. You should select the floppy drive, "A:\" (without the quotes). 4. When the download is complete, you should disconnect from the internet and close all open programs. 5. Extract the files from the downloaded file. Click Start\Run\Browse. Locate the supraexpress56-2390_win9x_015.exe file on the floppy drive, "a:." Click OK and then OK again. 6. A Self-Extractor window should appear. Click the box labeled Expand Installation Files Only. Specify the extraction to "C:\Diamond\Update" should appear in the Unzip To Folder window. This is the default location. You should accept this location, as the complete set of drivers will not fit on a single floppy disk. Click on the OK button. 7. After the files have been extracted, review the this readme notepad and print if necessary. Close to exit the extractor program. 8. After the files have been extracted click OK to the "success" window and then Close to exit the extractor program. 9. Click Start/Settings/Control Panel/Device Manager. Click on the + next to HCF MODEM. 10. Double-click on the Supra 2390 Modem Enumerator. 11. Click the Driver tab. 12. Click the Update Driver button. 13. Select Yes to let Windows look for the drivers. Then click Next. Direct the installation process toward the directory on your hard drive that contains the new extracted drivers(C:\Diamond\Update) 14. You may be prompted about a file being copied is older than the one currently on your computer. Click "No," which will overwrite the file with the older version. You may have to do this twice. 15. The Update Device Driver will close when the update is completed. 16. Exit the Properties to return to the Device Manager window. You have should have successfully updated the drivers. You should now verify your installation. Driver/Installation Verification: ----------------- To verify that the updated drivers have been installed, you should do the following: 1. Click Start/Settings/Control Panel. 2. Double-click on Modems and select the Diagnostics tab. 3. Highlight the COM port associated with your modem, and click the More Info button. Next to one of the lines starting with ATi3, look for: 2.1.2.156.015e This indicates you have successfully upgraded your modem with the appropriate drivers, and that it is installed correctly in Windows. ======================================================================= Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc.
