Here describes how to install the downloaded DVC Storage Driver on Windows 98. 1. Close all programs that are running. 2. Insert a memory card containing the MPEG-4 movies into the camcorder. 3. Connect the Power Adapter to the camcorder. 4. Turn the POWER switch to [PLAY (VCR)] and move the TAPE/CARD switch to [CARD]. 5. Press the CARD STILL/MOVIE button to select the MPEG-4 movie playback mode. 6. Make sure the card access indicator stops flashing then connect the computer's USB port and the camcorder's USB Terminal with the bundled USB cable. You do not need to shut off the computer now. Please refer to the User's Manual for your computer about the location of your computer's USB port. After a few moments, the [Add New Hardware Wizard] dialog box will display. Please follow these precautions when connecting the camcorder to the computer. (1) Use the Power Adapter to connect the camcorder. (2) Connect the camcorder directly to the computer with a USB cable. If you connect through a USB hub, the camcorder may not operate correctly. (3) Never use other USB compliant devices at the same time. (excluding USB mice or keyboards) The camcorder may not operate correctly. (4) Never allow the computer to go into standby (sleep) mode while a camcorder is connected via the USB interface. If this happens, try to awaken the computer with the camcorder connected. 7. Click [Next] in the [Add New Hardware Wizard] dialog box. 8. Select [Search for the best driver for your device [Recommended].] and click [Next]. 9. Select [Specify a location:] and click [Browse]. If a check mark is on the [CD-ROM drive] check box, remove it by clicking the check box. 10. On the [Browse for Folder] window, select [WIN98] folder by following procedures below. (10-1) On the [Browse for Folder] window, find and double-click the extracted folder after downloading. (For example, double-click the C drive, desktop and the extracted folder.) (10-2) Click the [WIN98] folder under the extracted folder. (10-3) Click [OK]. 11. Click [Next] when [C:\desktop\the name of the extracted folder\WIN98] will display as the specified location. The name of the drive (ex. [C:]) differs depending on your computer. 12. Click [Next]. The install process starts. 13. Click [OK] in the [Windows has finished installing the software that your new hardware device requires.] dialog box. After the installation, your camcorder model name will be registered as [Removable Disk]. 14. When the installer panel will display, click [Exit]. 15. Check if the DVC Storage Driver has been installed correctly by the instructions below. (1) Double-click the [My Computer] icon on the desktop. (2) Double-click the [Removable Disk] icon in [My Computer] and check if the [Sd_video] folder appears inside. (3) If the [Removable Disk] icon is not shown, restart your computer. If the [Removable Disk] icon will not display after restarting the computer, the DVC Storage Driver installation has not been completed correctly. Please uninstall the DVC Storage Driver first, then reinstall the driver. The DVC Storage Driver installation is now complete.
