3Com Bluetooth Device Installation Instructions October 15, 2001 ReadMe Version 1.0.8 Table of Contents 1. Instructions for OEM Install 2. Known Limitations 1. Instructions for OEM Install ================================================================================= The 3Com Bluetooth OEM device installation consists of plug-n-playing the hardware and running a silent software installation. To install, do the following: Step 1. To install the 3Com Bluetooth drivers, run the BTOEMDRV.EXE InstallShield executable on the root of the CD. This program takes the following flags: "-s -a -s" to install both PC Card and USB drivers silently "-s -a -s -u" to install USB drivers silently "-s -a -s -p" to install PC Card drivers silently Not specifying flags will install both PC Card and USB drivers in verbose mode. Step 2. To plug-n-play the hardware, insert the device and specify the correct path to the drivers which are located on the root of the CD: Note: There are several components which are installed at this time. Wait for all of them to complete before running the software installer (usually the 3Com Bluetooth Lan Client is the last component installed). Step 3. Copy the correct manual to the system (or use the command-line option in Step 4). They are located under \Manuals. They are broken out into two subdirectories PCCard and USB. Under each of these are the 8 language subdirectories which contain the PDF User Guide named BT10PDF.pdf. Step 4. To run the software installation, enter the following commands: cd \BTSW BT3COEM.EXE -s -a -s -HW -noapp or For HP only, run BT3COEM.EXE -s -a -s -HW -NB -noapp where the -NB option specifies to apply a slow boot fix. The -noapp option significantly reduces the amount of time the setup icon is viewed in the task tray. This runs the installer silently without any prompts or reboots. If the HW is not present, the install exits gracefully. Note: This installer was built to be run silently - Do not run this program to install in interactive mode. If an interactive installation is desired, run the installation found on the Accessory CD. NOTE: To install the user guides you may add the following command-line option to the end of the BT3COEM.EXE command: -pccug To also install the PC Card User Guide -usbug To also install the USB User Guide 2.
