INTRODUCTION This file contains the manual driver installation instructions for Compaq PCI Hot Plug Support for Microsoft Windows 2000. 2. MANUAL DRIVER INSTALLATION 1. Right click on My Computer. 2. Select Properties. 3. Select the Hardware tab. 4. Click on Device Manager. 5. Expand the System Devices by clicking on "+". 6. Double click on Compaq PCI Hotplug Controller from System Devices to show Properties page. 7. Select the Driver tab. 8. Click on Update Driver to invoke the Update Device Driver Wizard. 9. Select the "Search for a suitable driver for your device (recommended)" radio button. 10. Click Next. 11. Select "Specify a location". 12. Click Next. 13. Direct the wizard to the location where you stored the Compaq PCI Hot Plug driver and select "cpqphp.inf". 14. Click Next. 15. Click Finish. A window will pop up asking to reboot. 16. If there is only one "Compaq PCI Hotplug Controller" instance, click "Yes" to reboot. 17. If there are MULTIPLE "Compaq PCI Hotplug Controller" instances, perform the steps above for each "Compaq PCI Hotplug Controller" instance. Do not reboot until you finish updating drivers for each of the instances. When the PCI Hot Plug Filter Driver is found, the name shown on the screen will change to OEM*.inf (where * can be any number). NOTE: Before performing hot plug actions, verify that the PCI Hot Plug driver is correctly installed through the Device Manager. If the driver is installed properly, there will not be any instances of "Compaq PCI Hotplug Controller" or any instances of "Compaq PCI Hot Plug Controller (CPQPHP installed)" with a yellow exclamation point. Confirm that all LEDs are off on all unoccupied slots before continuing.
