Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install and configure the audio drivers for the Gateway(r) 450SX4 in Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 98.


Identification

If you have a Gateway(r) 450SX4 and are running Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 98, install these audio drivers.


Installation

1.  The files are extracted to C:\cabs\7512415. 

2.  On the Start menu, point to Programs, Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.

3.  In Windows Explorer, in the C:\cabs\7512415 folder, double-click ESSetup.exe.

4.  In the ESS Allegro Utility dialog box, click Next.

5.  In the Setup Complete dialog box, click Finish.  The computer restarts.


Removal

1.  On the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, double-click the System icon.

3.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

4.  On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
 
5.  In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Sound, video and game controllers.

6.  Select ESS Allegro PCI Audio, and then click Remove.


Troubleshooting

If you are having problems with this driver, try reinstalling it again by following the installation steps listed in this document.  If the problem persists, try removing the driver, and then reinstalling it.


Reason for Update

This is the initial release of these drivers.
