Overview

This document describes the steps necessary to install the Windows XP or Windows 2000 Agere voice modem driver for the Gateway notebook computer models listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section below.


Identification

If you have a Gateway notebook computer listed in the Applicable Part Numbers section and are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, install these drivers.


Installation

1.  From the Start menu, click Run.

2.  In the Run dialog box, type: C:\Cabs\9528575\Setup.exe.  Click OK.

3.  In the Welcome dialog box, click Next.

4.  The modem driver is installed.

5.  In the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box, click Finish.


Removal

1.  In Windows XP, from the Start menu, click Control Panel.  In Windows 2000, form the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2.  In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

3.  In the Add or Remove Programs window, click Agere Modem, and then click Change/Remove. 

4.  In the Confirm Removal dialog box, click OK. 

5.  Close all open Windows.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during or after the driver installation, follow the removal procedure, and then re-install the drivers.


Reason for Update

This is the Initial release of these drivers for the Agere modem.
