When component installation is complete, click Start and navigate to Programs, Compaq System Tools, HP Array Configuration Utility , HP Array Configuration Utility. By default this will run ACU in local application mode and open the graphical user interface. ACU has several modes of execution: 1.Local Application Mode (Default): ACU runs only as a local application on the local machine without using a web server. 2.Remote Service Mode: ACU runs as a Windows service and is accessible from remote hosts through the System Management Homepage at https://:2381. 3.Scripting Mode: ACU runs from the command-line using script files. Script files can be captured to get the current configuration and used as input to modify the configuration. Customize the way ACU is run: 1. Click Start and navigate to Programs, Compaq System Tools, HP Array Configuration Utility , Setup HP Array Configuration Utility. 2. Choose the execution mode of ACU. Select "Local Application Mode" or "Remote Service mode". In local application mode, ACU will run only as a local application on the local machine (by either clicking on the shortcut in the start menu or running from the command-line). ACU does not use a web server in this mode. In remote service mode, ACU will run as a Windows service. ACU will start automatically and run in the background at all times. ACU is accessible from the System Management Homepage at "https://servername:2381". 3. If you choose "Remote Service Mode" and the System Management Homepage password is not set, a wizard will run allowing you to set it. Run the ACU graphical user interface: If you want to run the graphical user interface locally on a system: Click on the HP Array Configuration Utility shortcut in the Start Menu or run cpqacuxe.exe from the command-line. If you want to run the graphical user interface and point to a remote system: 1. Open your browser (Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer 5.5 or later). 2. Type "https://servername:2381" into the url field. The servername should be the IP address or server name of the host on which the ACU server is running. 3. On the System Management Homepage that opens in the browser, click the login link near the top of the screen. You should now see a login screen. Note: If the System Management password is not set, run setup.exe on the remote system to set the System Management Homepage password. 4. Enter your username and password. NOTE: You can change the username or password by clicking the appropriate link on this screen. The choice of username is limited to user, guest, or administrator. When you have successfully logged in, you should see the System Management Homepage again. 5. Click the Array Configuration Utility link on the screen. Exiting ACU: To exit the ACU graphical user interface, click on the Exit link in the Array Configuration Utility or close the browser. Additional Notes ---------------- 1. The ACU session can be restarted by hitting the 'F5' key; however, this will discard any unsaved changes. 2. If you are running ACU in remote service mode, users will automatically be logged out after a predetermined period of inactivity when using ACU and will have to re-login using the System Management Homepage administrator password. 3. If you are running ACU in remote service mode, System Management Homepage login timeouts will not work properly while running ACU unless the "Anonymous Access" option is checked on the System Management Homepage under "Settings->Options". If you decide not to check "Anonymous Access" and a login timeout occurs, the System Management Homepage login screen will appear in an ACU frame and will not work correctly. If this happens, close the ACU browser and go back to the System Management Homepage and re-login as administrator. Click on the Array Configuration Utility link to restart the ACU session. 4. When clicking on a controller that is currently being configured in a different ACU session, a message will appear which allows you to override the other ACU session or cancel. If you choose to override the other ACU session, any unsaved changes in the other session will be discarded. Known Issues ------------ The following are known issues in this version of ACU: - Some browsers allow pop-ups to be turned off or blocked. For ACU to run, pop-ups must be enabled in the browser. - Sometimes the login on the System Management Homepage will not work the first time. Click on the System Management Homepage link again or refresh the page and re-login. - If after upgrading ACU, you are having memory related errors, please make sure to reboot your server. A possible cause for this could be related to the fact that the embedded web server used by ACU is newer than the oldest version currently on your system. - If upgrading from a previous version of ACU, the old ACU shortcut "Compaq Array Configuration Utility XE" will not be deleted. - The new Internet Explorer Enhanced Security feature in Windows Server 2003(win32/win64) prevents the Common Homepage from loading. Since ACU depends on the Common Homepage, ACU will fail to load. If you are running ACU in Local Application Mode: To correct this problem, when you are prompted with a security warning, click on "Add" to add the ACU local application to the "Trusted sites zone". If you are running ACU in Remote Service Mode: To correct this problem, the server being administered must be added to the “Local internet zone”. Add the desired target servers to the “Local intranet zone” by: - Clicking on Tools, then Internet Options, - Selecting the Security tab, - Clicking on the “Local internet” icon, - And manually entering http://:2301 and https://:2381 as entries in the Local intranet zone. - ACU may appear unresponsive during heavy array controller I/O conditions, such as during a partition format or a logical drive rebuild.
