Technical Support ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. WINDOWS 95 INSTALLATION =========================== 1. Windows 95 will automatically detect the modem. Click "Next" to continue. 2. Insert the EM3900 Modem Installation Disc provided into the CD-ROM Drive. 3. Click on "Other Locations". 4. Type in the location of the driver D:\win9x where D: is the CD-ROM drive. Then click "OK" to continue. 5. Modem Driver will be found on the EM3900 Installation Disc. click "Finish" to begin modem installation. 6. When the system prompts for the installation CD, click "OK". 7. Type in the location of the file D:\win9x where D: is the CD-ROM drive. Then click "OK" to continue. 8. WINDOWS 98 INSTALLATION =========================== 1. Windows 98 will automatically detect the modem. Click "Next" to continue. 2. Insert the EM3900 Modem Installation Disc provided into the CD-ROM Drive. 3. Select "Search for the best drivers for your device. (Recommended)" and click "Next" to continue. 4. Enable "Specify a location" selection. Next, type in the location of the driver D:\win9x where D: is the CD-ROM drive. Then click "Next" to continue. 5. Modem Driver will be found on the EM3900 Installation Disc. Click "Next" to continue. 6. Click "Finish" to complete modem installation. 7. WINDOWS NT4 INSTALLATION ============================ 1. From the Control Panel, double click the Modems icon. The system will try to detect the modem. If not, click on "Add". 2. The modem will be detected as a standard modem. Click on "Change" and then "Have Disc". 3. Next, type in the location of the driver D:\winNT4 where D: is the CD-ROM drive. Then click "OK" to continue. 5. Modem Driver will be found on the EM3900 Installation Disc. Click "Next" to continue. 6. Click "Finish" to complete modem installation. 7. System will then automatically load all the necessary drivers and files needed. Then restart the system. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D. WINDOWS 2000 INSTALLATION ============================== 1. Windows 2000 will automatically detect the modem. Click "Next" to continue. 2. Insert the EM3900 Installation Disc provided into the CD-ROM Drive. 3. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device. (recommended)" and click "Next" to continue. 4. Enable "Specify a location" selection and click "Next" to continue. 5. Next, type in the location of the driver D:\win2000 where D: is the CD-ROM drive. Then click "OK" to continue. 6. Modem Driver will be found on the EM3900 Installation Disc. Click "Next" to continue. 7. Select a country when prompt for setting of country current in and then click "OK". 8. Click "Finish" to complete modem installation. 9. WINDOWS MILLENNIUM INSTALLATION =================================== 1. Windows Millennium will automatically detect the modem. Select "Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)". Click "Next" to continue. 2. Insert the EM3900 Installation Disc provided into the CD-ROM Drive. 3. Enable "Specify a location" selection. Next, type in the location of the driver D:\WinME where D: is the CD-ROM drive. Then click "Next" to continue. 4. Modem Driver will be found on the EM3900 Installation Disc. Click "Next" to continue. 5. Click "Finish" to complete modem installation. 6. WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION =========================== 1. Windows XP will automatically detect the modem. Click "Next" to continue. 2. Insert the EM3900 Installation Disc provided into the CD-ROM Drive. 3. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device. (recommended)" and click "Next" to continue. 4. Enable "Specify a location" selection and click "Next" to continue. 5. Next, type in the location of the driver D:\winxp where D: is the CD-ROM drive. Then click "OK" to continue. 6. Modem Driver will be found on the EM3900 Installation Disc. Click "Next" to continue. 7. Select a country when prompt for setting of country current in and then click "OK". 8. Click "Finish" to complete modem installation. 9. WINDOWS 98 RELATED ISSUE. ============================= User may encounter problem such as modem cannot dial out under Windows 98. Please close all modem applications and restart the Windows. Make sure you have connected the Phone Line before re-running the application again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- H. HOW TO UNINSTALL MODEM? =========================== For Windows 9x and Windows Millennium the product is installed with Uninstall Program allowing user to remove modem completely from the system. To perform an un-installation, proceed to Control Panel / Add/Remove Program icon. To complete, for Windows 9x and Windows Millennium you need to remove the "EM3900-U External Modem Files". For Windows NT4, from Control Panel, double click the Modems icon. A Modem Properties windows will appear. Click on the Remove button. Then go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Program icon and remove the "EM3900-U External Modem Files". For Windows 2000 and Windows XP proceed to the Device Manager. Choose the "EM3900-U External Modem", right click on the mouse and select uninstall.
